Dr. D G Shetty M.Com, LLB, CAIIB, Ph.D, is the chief Promoter & President of Dr. D G Shetty Educational Society. He possesses an excellent academic record. He holds the degree of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law from Bangalore University as well as post graduate degree in Commerce and doctoral degree from Karnatak University besides CAIIB from Indian Institute of Bankers of Mumbai. He had an illustrious career of 3 decades in Vijaya Bank in senior management positions.
Dr. D G Shetty’s life time ambition has always been to provide quality education to students community. He is taking personal interest in almost all the activities pertaining to academics. He takes care of all the students personally and motivates them to excel in their career. He was able to form the above educational society by mobilizing support from well-known academicians, professionals, philanthropists and other stalwarts in the fields of education. Today, it is his dream coming true in the form of a well-established college, with excellent facilities. He is bent upon making his institution a model to others and has been taking all steps to provide quality education, with a difference.

The ICSI has established a Company Secretary Course Study Centre at our Institute and the Vice Principal of our Society’s R.S.Shetty College of Commerce , Dharwad Dr.S.M.Salimath M.B.A. , Ph.D., has been appointed as Counsellor of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) , New-Delhi , to guide the Company Secretary Students and disseminate the information about Company Secretary Course in North Karnataka.
The society has established a good name in North Karnataka and the students of the degree college have secured ranks in the examinations conducted by Karnatak University, Dharwad. The aim of the society is to provide quality education to the student community. Presently the society is running four colleges successfully,

Initially the society started the colleges with only 15 students in PUC and 6 students in degree, but now, due to the efforts of Dr. D. G. Shetty, the governing council of the society and the staff members of the colleges, the strength of the college stands above 800 students, which is a remarkable growth in a very short span of time. Now the society has the examination centers for P.U.C. as well as all degree examinations. We also feel proud to mention here that our society’s R.S.Shetty College has been the granted the examination center by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India , New-Delhi , to conduct examination for Company Secretary course. This examination center is the only center in North Karnataka after Bangalore , Mysore and Mangalore.
Recently we have constructed a new block with three floors measuring 1200 Sq.Ft each in the name of “Barkur Dodmane Rukmini Shetty Memorial Sudhakar Shetty Wing” especially for starting Post Graduation course in Commerce.
Karnataka Housing board, a unit of Govt. of Karnataka has allotted 15000 Sq.Ft. land to start kindergarten and Primary School in a semi urban place at Kalaghatagi, Dist: Dharwad. All the spade work has been done to start the school in the academic year 2016-17.

The institution has 15 Scholarships which will be given to the meritorious students who excel in their academics. The Scholarships are sponsored by philanthropists, businessmen and corporates. The institution also supports the meritorious students who are economically backward by giving them fees concession and exemption depending upon their condition.
The College is publishing a yearly magazine in the name of “Pratibha Spoorthi” to give scope and bring out the talent of the students. It is a collection of various articles, poems, achievements of the institution and students academics , sports & cultural activities in the particular academic year.
The institution is having a very strong Alumini Association. Every year alumini meet is conducted in the month of February where in the former students have a get to-gather and have interaction with the present students to highlight them about the present scenario in the corporate world , job opportunities , higher education opportunities , etc.
